Our mission was to develop products for every customer to proudly say “I love my skin” at any age.

On the agenda was to find what can naturally help bolster the skin’s function for peak performance and help fortify and regenerate healthy skin. We finally found the miracle ingredient after extensive research, and much to our chagrin. It was hidden in our everyday staple; inside a grain of rice.

How did we discover the Secret Ingredient?

The biggest hint was that Asian women are world-renowned for their beautiful skin. It had to be something accessible to every woman. Then, there was the age-long buzz that rice has natural beauty benefits claiming, “Toji (artisan sake brewers) have porcelain white hands.” There were also old wives tales that proclaimed, “wash your face with rice water for smoother skin.”

Since ancient times, Asians have been using rice as a trusted beauty ingredient for centuries. The safe consumption of rice indicated it would be equally safe to apply to our delicate skin.
We wanted to maintain the integrity and safety of this trusted ingredient without adding harmful ingredients, which lead us to a natural fermentation process. We are proud of this truly artisanal Japanese technique that has attracted worldwide attention today.

We are particular about what goes into our products because safety is our priority. We only use 100% domestic Japanese white rice, some of which our employees grow organically and harvest. During the 90-day fermentation process, rice is mixed in with natural microorganisms such as aspergillus, yeast and lactic acid and the mixture percolates naturally. Seeing the bubbles makes us appreciate the invigorating life force within a grain of rice.
